NYS Boater Safety Course This is a 2 day course.

Get Ready for Spring Boating Season! Take this two-day boating Safety Course.
This course is a great opportunity to get the whole family certified. Bring the family and get everyone certified together.
This is a comprehensive boating safety course. You will learn the fundamentals of safe boat operation. Upon completion of this class, those under 18 years of age, will receive a NYS Boater Safety Certificate free of charge. Those over 18 will need to send a check for $10 to NYS Parks for their certificate.
Brianna's Law went into effect on January 1, 2020. Under the law, now being phased in, owners of any age, of all power-driven boats, will be required to have a boating safety certificate to operate their boat.
Anyone, of any age, operating a personal watercraft (Jet Ski) is required to have a certificate.
With the start of 2022, everyone born after January 1, 1988, needs a boating safety certificate to operate a power-driven boat.
If you were born on or after January 1, 1983, you will need the certificate when operating a power-driven boat starting January 1, 2023.
If you were born on or after January 1, 1978, you will need the certificate when operating a power-driven boat starting January 1, 2024.
After January 1, 2025, no matter when you were born, you will need a boater safety certificate to operate a power-driven boat.
General Information
- NYS requires this course for: anyone using a Personal Water Craft (PWC), anyone under 18 years old operating a power boat and anyone born on or after 5/1/96 operating a powerboat.
- After completion of this class, those under 18 years of age will receive a NYS Boater Safety Certificate free of charge.
- Those over 18 will be entitled to apply to NYS Parks for their certificate for a $10 fee.
